JAAP IS BACK! The 2009-2010 Texas Instruments Classical Series opens with splendor as Music Director Jaap van Zweden takes the podium in his second season leading the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Beginning with a tribute to the 100th birth anniversary of American composer Samuel Barber, the DSO opens the evening with Adagio for Strings as a tribute to late Chorus Director, David R. Davidson. Guest soloist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, one of the world's preeminent violinists, takes center stage in Barber's technically challenging Violin Concerto. Following intermission, you will be awed by the pièce de résistance of the program: Tchaikovsky's emotional Symphony No. 4.
