The Dallas Symphony Orchestra proudly presents Whoopi Goldberg, in concert for one night only at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. The Grammy, Oscar, Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe winner will bring her signature comedic style and wit to the Meyerson for one laughter-filled night. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 7, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. This performance is without orchestra.
Born and raised in New York City, Whoopi Goldberg worked in theatre and improv in San Diego and the Bay Area, where she created signature characters that evolved into her hit Broadway show, Grammy Award-winning album and the HBO special that helped launch her career. She made her motion picture debut in Steven Spielberg's film version of The Color Purple, for which she earned an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe Award, and her performance in Ghost garnered her the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. Goldberg has also appeared in the films Jumpin' Jack Flash, Sister Act, Soapdish, Ghosts of Mississippi, The Associate, The Long Walk Home, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Girl, Interrupted and more.
Currently, Goldberg appears as moderator on ABC's The View. She has appeared on numerous television series and specials, including her own HBO specials, three-time host of ABC's A Gala for the President at Ford's Theatre and nine Comic Relief telecasts with Billy Crystal and Robin Williams. She received Emmy Award nominations for hosting the 66th, 68th and 71st Academy Award telecasts and hosted the Tony Awards for the first time in 2008. Goldberg also executive produced the hit Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, which won six Tony Awards.
